About the Program Model
This proven model of the Trauma Healing Institute uses applied Scripture and mental health principles to address spiritual and emotional wounds caused by trauma whether from war, violence, natural disasters, or abuse.
This version of the classic book, Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How the Church Can Help, has been adapted specifically for children.
About the Session
This Initial Equipping session will be divided into two sections. During the first week, participants learn basic biblical and mental health principles related to trauma care and how to make these concepts accessible to children through games, songs, storytelling, art, and other activities. The second week will be a practicum where participants will help facilitate a Healing Hearts Club camp for children.
Who should attend?
This session is open to laypeople and clergy, mental health professionals, social justice advocates, NGO workers, and others who work with children who would like to explore becoming a trauma healing facilitator. We recommend attending with at least one other person so you can implement Trauma Healing together in your context.
Necessary qualifications:
• Fluent in English
• At least 18 years old
• Have sufficient status to teach others in a community
• Committed to help trauma survivors that are children
• Able to dedicate time to lead trauma healing groups of children
• Able to attend the entire session
