About this Event

Come join the Cleanup Club to take action into our own hands by removing trash from our local community! We'll be covering a few streets around Wrigleyville and working our way toward the Trashy Earth Market at Gallagher Way following the cleanup to support our fellow trashy smashers!

Date: Saturday, April 27th

Time: 9:45 AM - 11:00 AM

Location: We will meet at the small triangular park at the corner of Grace St & North Racine Ave (just in front of Cookies & Cupcake By Design at 3759 N Racine Ave). Depending on turnout, we will work our way South along Racine Ave down to Roscoe St. > East on Roscoe St > North to Gallagher Way.

Social Outing: Optional "after party" to support our friends with the Nowhere Collective and Reduce Waste Chicago at the FREE Trashy Earth Market 11am-4pm at Gallagher Way (next to Wrigley Field) as long as you like after the cleanup! They'll be hosting their Reuse & Recycling Pop-Up, where you can drop off unwanted items for reuse, redistribution, repurposing, reclamation and recycling. Check their “accepted items” list now to know what to bring and start saving for the big day and help support the artists who use these reclaimed materials. There will also be live music and Big Star Tacos food truck! Please be sure to register for this event separately at THIS LINK.

Supplies & What To Bring: We will provide grabbers, bags, and protective gloves. We recommend that everyone please bring their own water and sunscreen, plus a 5 gallon bucket (if you want to). Please dress appropriately for the weather. We recommend wearing closed-toed shoes, clothing that does not snag easily if cleaning in forested areas, and bringing a bag to carry water and sunscreen so your hands can remain free.

How to Get There: As we are an environmental organization, we strongly encourage taking public transit, walking, or biking to the event if possible. Additionally, there is minimal street parking at this location, so if you do bring a car, please allow extra time to find parking and walk over.

PLEASE NOTE:

All participants must provide their full name and answer our two custom questions to be able to participate in the event. If you sign up without completing the full Eventbrite form, your registration will be canceled.

Additionally, by registering for this event, you are agreeing to the following rules and waiver:

Safety First: Wear durable, appropriate footwear that you don't mind getting dirty. If you find any items that present a biohazard, such as needles, please leave them, as we don't want anything poking through a bag and injuring someone. We also recommend avoiding broken glass. Do not do anything that you feel uncomfortable with or that puts you in danger.

Kids and Dogs: The minimum age for participation is 8 years old, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. You are responsible for you and your child's safety. Additionally, we ask that you do not bring your dogs to cleanups.

Photograph and Video Waiver: Photographs and videos are taken at the cleanups and include participants. They are typically used on social media, but may also be used for marketing or promotional purposes. If you do not wish to have photo/video taken of you, then you are responsible for letting the leaders of each individual cleanup know and we will do our best to avoid taking photos and video with you in it. We cannot guarantee that you will not be in the background of any photos or video. Therefore, all participants must consent that any photographs or video taken of them or their minor, purposefully or inadvertently, can be used on social media and/or for marketing and promotional purposes by the Cleanup Club or any affiliated groups.

COVID-19 Precautions: COVID-19 is a highly contagious, communicable disease. We require everyone to follow the current CDC guidelines on mask wearing and social distancing at our cleanups. As we cannot guarantee that you will not become infected with COVID-19, we recommend that masks be worn at all times as a preventative measure. Additionally, we will be capping the number of participants based on the current coronavirus restrictions.

Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk: You are completely responsible for your own safety - please pay attention at all times and avoid any areas or items that are hazardous. By participating in any of the Cleanup Club events and/or allowing a minor (under the age of 18) to participate for which you have legal responsibility as a parent or guardian, YOU ARE HEREBY VOLUNTARILY CONSENTING TO SUCH PARTICIPATION, and on behalf of yourself, your heirs, assigns, and next of kin, RELEASING AND HOLDING HARMLESS the Cleanup Club or any affiliated organizations and its administrators, members, agents, employees, associated personnel, other participants, sponsors, advertisers, and, if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the event (“RELEASEES”), from any and all claims, demands, losses, and liability arising out of or related to any ILLNESS, INJURY, DISABILITY OR DEATH, THEFT, OR LOSS you may suffer, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

By registering for this event, you attest:

“I have read the rules and fully understand and agree to them freely and voluntarily without any inducement, including but not limited to the Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk set forth herein above. Additionally, I consent that any photographs that are taken of me while attending an event can be used for social media, marketing and/or promotional purposes by the Cleanup Club or any affiliated organizations.”

Cancellation Policy: If for any reason you decide you cannot attend this event after signing up, PLEASE cancel your registration. This allows us to open up spaces for other people, and get a more accurate estimate of how many volunteers will be attending.

Please email us at [email protected] if you have any further questions. Please follow our Cleanup Club Eventbrite page for other cleanup events. We look forward to seeing you there!
