About this Event
Get Ready for TRANSMARSH!
Suspended from the Taylor Street facade of the Timbri Hotel in San Francisco's Tenderloin — directly across from the site of the 1966 Compton's Cafeteria Riot — this live aerial performance unfolds in the wake of the 2026 Trans March closing rally, reclaiming public space in a work by trans people, for trans people.
TRANSMARSH is a FREE outdoor vertical dance performance celebrating trans existence as a vital part of our ecosystem. B Dean/BODYSTORM, Pangaea, and tome will rewild the Tenderloin with the memory of prehistoric salt marshes, the 1966 trans-led uprising at Compton's Cafeteria, and the queer life that once filled this block — asking how we grieve the past, adapt to the present, and move through the coming storms together.

TRANSMARSH is produced by BODYSTORM, a fiscally sponsored project of Circo Zero. TRANSMARSH is presented in partnership with Trans March, Tenderloin Museum, Oaklash, Community Arts Stabilization Trust, Timbri Hotel, Aid & Abet, and Openhaus Athletics. This performance is made possible with funding from Svane Family Foundation, Zellerbach Family Foundation, and Kenneth Rainin Foundation. Special thanks to Flyaway Productions, BANDALOOP, and Zaccho Dance Theater.
BODYSTORM is an earthbound and airborne dance company based in the Bay Area. Via site-specific dance, we highlight the intelligent technology of nature and the body. Centering queer, multiracial, and multidisciplinary collaborations, our performances and workshops invite expansive possibilities; opening portals for resilient communities and imaginative futures. BODYSTORM was founded by B Dean, a transgender vertical dancer and global expert in the form.
"Trans folks are world builders. We imagine new ways of seeing and defy imposed expectations that demand uprightness in an upside-down world. Our bodies are experts at transition, at change, because the trans body is a force of nature, and nature is hella queer." — B Dean, Artistic Director of BODYSTORM.
