Learn to reduce and transform your food waste! Join I Love A Clean San Diego for our free Transform Food Waste: Natural Textile Dyeing with Food Scraps Workshop at the Encinitas Community Center on Saturday, March 28 at 10:30 a.m. During this workshop, we’ll cover:
· How to reduce food waste in the kitchen
· Why it’s so important to keep food waste out of landfills through composting and the organic waste recycling program
· Tips and tricks on how to use the curbside green bin
Attendees can participate in the natural textile dyeing activity facilitated by Sound as Color - get creative and upcycle food scraps into art on natural fiber clothing! Please bring a textile to dye - see FAQ section for details.
We’ll also have the Sprouting Station open for attendees to plant native plant and vegetable seeds to take home and grow!

Natural Textile Dyeing with Sound as Color
Info: Create a design on your textile of choice using rescued food scraps! Sound as Color will facilitate - items will steam and set during the rest of the event.

Organic Waste Recycling Overview
Info: ILACSD will share information on the curbside organic waste recycling program, and how to easily participate at home with minimal mess. Additional information on composting and food waste reduction tips will be shared as well.

Finish Textile Dyeing & Sprouting Station
Info: Now that your dyed textiles have steamed and the colors have set, pick them up from Sound as Color and admire the results! The Sprouting Station will be open during this time to plant native plant, vegetable and herb seeds to take home as well.
