Sydney’s much loved goth, alternative, darkwave night TRANSCENDENCE returns to our new home, The Chippo Hotel basement.DJ’s Lanie Lifeless, Bluelust, and Fever Sky will be spinning a selection of goth, industrial, darkwave, post-punk and alternative club music, blending essential classics with modern tracks from the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and today.
The night also features a live performance from Sydney band INAUGURAL.
INAUGURAL channels the perspective of two biblically accurate angels navigating a post-modern world. Their songwriting explores themes of love, existential dread, club culture, and even the enigmatic shark that repeatedly bites fiber optic internet cables. Formed in 2023, the energetic duo of Alice Amsel (BVLLVDS) and Phil Spiteri (DROVES) brings together distinct corners of Dark Wave and Post-Punk to create something both urgent and atmospheric. The band’s debut mixtape, now scheduled for release in February 2026, was shaped with producer Jonathan Tooke (Cry Club) and continues their exploration of dystopian and satirical themes, blending eerie synths, brooding melodies, and sharp lyrical storytelling. Their performances are known for immersive visuals, commanding stage presence, and an energy that translates the darkwave sound into a visceral experience for audiences.
