Ciné-histoire présente LTOUCH OF EVIL de Orson Welles, dans le cadre de la série AU BOUT DE LA NUIT : LE DERNIER ACTE DU FILM NOIR (1955-1958).Par l'entrelacement classique chez Orson Welles de la fraude et de la vérité, où l'une ne s'atteint pas sans passer par l'autre, Touch of Evil nous confronte aux ambiguïtés d’une enquête criminelle : le spectateur se prend au trompe-l’œil d'un affrontement entre un procureur mexicain téméraire et racé, joué par Charlton Heston, et un capitaine de police américain véreux campé par le cinéaste, personnage répulsif et retors, aux yeux porcins mais au regard acéré. D’une intrigue policière classique, Welles réalise – et incarne – un film noir éblouissant.

Through Welles’ classic interplay of fraud and truth, where one cannot exist without the other, Touch of Evil confronts us with the ambiguities of a criminal investigation. The viewer is drawn into the deceptive face-off between a daring and sophisticated Mexican prosecutor, played by Charlton Heston, and a corrupt American police captain, portrayed by Welles himself, a repulsive yet cunning character with pig-like eyes and a piercing gaze. From a classic crime plot, Welles creates and stars in a dazzling film noir.
