About the book: From Reese’s Book Club LitUp fellow Tolani Akinola, this bighearted debut finds four siblings reuniting over a fateful Thanksgiving dinner after years apart. The children of Nigerian immigrants, now-adult siblings Sola, Anjola, Ola, and Karen have all returned to Chicago, where they grew up. But a lot has changed since they were all together with their parents, and each of their individual struggles—to do with sexuality, self-image, and raising a Black child in America—coalesce into a mess of competing egos. Called a “warm, smart, hilarious, delicious, riveting” novel by Curtis Sittenfeld, LEAVE YOUR MESS AT HOME asks questions about what we owe our families and, crucially, what we owe ourselves.
Validated parking is available in the Entra West End parking garage on Park Street.
