About this Event

Join us for a free in person workshop all about toileting for older children by Contact Cymru and ERIC (The Children's Bowel & Bladder Charity)

This Building Resilience project workshop is for parents of children and young people (0-25) with disabilities or additional needs living in Wales (with and without a diagnosis). Funded by National Lottery Community Fund. Learn about the support available to you from Contact Cymru, ERIC, and the ND Community Connectors CIC team in Cardiff.
PLEASE NOTE DUE TO FUNDING THIS IS FOR PARENT CARERS LIVING IN WALES.

All children learn to use the toilet at a different stage in their life. Children with additional needs may take longer to be ready to start toilet training and to learn the process.

During this session Brenda from ERIC will help you to understand how the bowel works, what can go wrong and what to do about it. She will help you recognising constipation, and the importance of treatment, as well as working towards getting the poo in the loo!

She will also explain how the bladder works, look at why it is essential to sort the bowels first, and why it is so important to have plenty to drink. Brenda will talk about how to recognise when the bladder is misbehaving, and what to do about it, plus ways to encourage your child towards the potty or toilet.

Finally, she will be discussing how we can prepare and support children with additional needs with their toilet training. We will focus on the challenges they may meet and how we can support them in feeling comfortable using the toilet at a pace that reflects their needs.

Warm drinks and a buffet will be provided to all attendees.

Unfortunately, we do not have childcare facilities, this is a session for adults only so please make alternative arrangements for childcare during the workshop.

Please direct any enquiries relating to your booking to [email protected]

Ymunwch â ni am weithdy wyneb yn wyneb am ddim ynglŷn â defnyddio'r toiled i blant hŷn gan Contact Cymru ac ERIC (Elusen Coluddyn a Phledren y Plant)

Mae'r prosiect Adeiladu Gwytnwch hwn ar gyfer rhieni plant a phobl ifanc (0-25) ag anableddau neu anghenion ychwanegol sy'n byw yng Nghymru (gyda diagnosis a heb ddiagnosis). Wedi'i ariannu gan Gronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol. Dysgwch am y gefnogaeth sydd ar gael i chi gan Contact Cymru, ERIC, a thîm ND Community Connectors CIC yng Nghaerdydd.

NODER OHERWYDD CYLLID MAE HYN AR GYFER RHIENI A GOFALWYR SY'N BYW YNG NGHYMRU.

Mae pob plentyn yn dysgu defnyddio'r toiled ar wahanol gamau yn eu bywyd. Gall plant ag anghenion ychwanegol gymryd mwy o amser i fod yn barod i ddechrau hyfforddiant toiled a dysgu'r broses.

Yn ystod y sesiwn hon bydd Brenda o ERIC yn eich helpu i ddeall sut mae'r coluddyn yn gweithio, beth all fynd o'i le a beth i'w wneud amdano. Bydd hi'n eich helpu i adnabod rhwymedd, ac i ddeall pwysigrwydd triniaeth, yn ogystal â gweithio tuag at gael y gwastraff yn y toiled!

Bydd hi hefyd yn esbonio sut mae'r bledren yn gweithio, yn edrych ar pam ei bod hi'n hanfodol sortio’r coluddyn yn gyntaf, a pham ei bod hi mor bwysig cael digon i'w yfed. Bydd Brenda yn siarad am sut i adnabod pryd mae'r bledren yn camymddwyn, a beth i'w wneud amdano, ynghyd â ffyrdd o annog eich plentyn tuag at y poti neu'r toiled.

Yn olaf, bydd hi'n trafod sut y gallwn baratoi a chefnogi plant ag anghenion ychwanegol gyda'u hyfforddiant toiled. Byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar yr heriau y gallent eu hwynebu a sut y gallwn eu cefnogi i deimlo'n gyfforddus yn defnyddio'r toiled ar gyflymder sy'n adlewyrchu eu hanghenion.

Darperir diodydd cynnes a bwffe i bawb sy'n mynychu.

Yn anffodus, nid oes gennym gyfleusterau gofal plant, sesiwn i oedolion yn unig yw hon felly gwnewch drefniadau eraill ar gyfer gofal plant yn ystod y gweithdy.

Anfonwch unrhyw ymholiadau sy'n ymwneud â'ch archeb at [email protected]
