TINTERN TALKS presents…
Keggie Carew will be in conversation with Mark McCrum discussing her Costa Award winning book DADLAND and Wainwright Award shortlisted BEASTLY, other writing and interests such as conservation and rewilding.
This will be a light-hearted, anecdote filled look at discuss the hows, whats and whys, the joys, heartache and the pure brutality of the writing life!
Keggie Carew is the author of ‘BEASTLY: The 40,000-Year Story of Animal and Us’ shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize for Writing on Conservation, and a Book of the Year for the Financial Times, Waterstones and BBC History Magazine. In 2016 she won the Costa Biography Award for her unconventional, shape-shifting memoir, DADLAND. Her collection of true stories of terrible moments, QUICKSAND TALES, was a Daily Mail book of the year in 2019.
Keggie lives in Wiltshire with her husband, Jonathan, on their small nature reserve which they manage for fauna, flora and the education of young people. Before writing, her career was in contemporary art.

There is disabled access, loos and limited free parking at Tintern Village Hall. Parking along the Tintern's main road (A466) is permitted and unrestricted after 6pm. The closest car-park is at Tintern Abbey after which you can cut through the playing fields or walk along the river footpath to quickly reach the Village Hall.
This talk is run by the Lower Wye Valley Building Preservation Trust, a volunteer charity which is currently purchasing St Mary’s, Chapel Hill, a seriously at risk, but picturesque Grade II listed landmark ruin that is in an ecclesiastical grouping with Tintern Abbey. LWVBPT also intends to restore the Fryer's Wharf slipway to public use.
Annual membership costs £10 a year per person, and other than the satisfaction of directly helping to conserve our heritage, gives a discount to our events as well as other offers.
