A really enjoyable circular walk with a great mix of legend, woodland and views. Starting near the abbey, the route crosses Wireworks Bridge before climbing up to the dramatic Devilβs Pulpit. Local legend says the devil once preached from this rocky viewpoint, trying to tempt the monks below β and itβs easy to see why, with cracking views from the top.
The walk then loops back through peaceful woodland paths, with plenty of chances to spot wildlife along the way. Some of the climbs can be tricky in wet conditions, so care is needed on slick ground.
π Parking: Β£5 at The Anchor Inn β refunded if you stop for food or a drink afterwards π»π΄ (perfect excuse to finish the walk socially!)
A rewarding walk with a bit of history, a bit of drama, and a wellβearned stop at the end πΏ
