About this Event
New for this year, we're putting on a mountain bike time trial for riders at Ganavan Sands on Sunday 18th August 2023! After the Kids Bike Event in the morning, we know the spectators will be itching to give the trails a go. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, this for-fun TT can be enjoyed by all riders - all thanks to the North Argyll Trail Association's work on the trail network at Ganavan!
The event will be based in the field next to the shinty pitch at Ganavan Sands. And seeing as it's a cycling event, we reckon it's a good idea to arrive by bike as much as possible - helpful way to avoid any difficulties with parking too.
You will be able to register from 1pm on the day, after the end of the Kids Bike Event. If you would like to try the trails before the TT, you have time between 1-2pm OR you can go out and explore before the day - it will not be possible to ride the trails in the morning.
Make sure you're back at the event base for 2pm when the TT starts.
There will be 2 bike courses:
- a Blue Course - entry-level, with some steep and off-camber sections.
- a Black Course - for experienced riders this course will have some jumps and steep down hills.
Registrations close on the 15th August, however, if you miss this deadline then please let us know. If the event sells out, make sure you join the waiting list!
Entry is by donation - please pay as much or as little as you can. Unlike previous years, we have not received funding from Event Scotland and have therefore had to scale the event accordingly. We are really greatful to the Oban Sportive who continue to support us, however as a small charity we would appreciate the help we can get to get as many folk out and enjoying time on their bikes this summer!
Additional Info:
- This TT is suitable for competent riders aged 14+.
- There will be time for multiple runs, so you have a chance to get your best time.
- Please check to make sure you bike is in good working order and suitable for the terrain.
