Expect to get cozy with your TIG torch as you tackle basic welds in steel. With the high heat and fine control of TIG welding, you'll have the power to create sleek, strong, and clean welds on steel, and in later classes, aluminum, and more. By the end of this class, you’ll walk away with newfound skills, a cool project to take home, and the confidence to take on your next welding adventure.
As part of the SHOP160 course, you'll learn:
- The fundamentals of TIG welding (from settings to technique)
- Safety tips for a smooth, safe welding experience
- How to weld a variety of metals with precision (this class will be steel only, to start!)
- Basic joint designs and techniques

I’m a Denver native and recently retired. I have a background in Software Engineering and Motorsports Engineering. I've had a passion for Mechanical Engineering from an early age and it seems I've always been a maker and fixer. I love to repair and re-purpose older machine tools and have enjoyed building and racing sports cars in the SCCA. My other interests include fly fishing, hiking, traveling to F1 races and doting on my two tomcat rescues, Enzo Ferrari Mullen and Bruce McLaren Mullen.
