About this Event
Thriving Congregations explores how churches and other organizations can align themselves with each other to learn the principles of community organizing so as to collectively address the injustices that exist in our communities. Our training series will be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7 at Family of Faith United Methodist Church (Friday, 6-8:30 p.m.), and at House Three-Thirty, the LeBron James Family Foundation Event Center (Saturday, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.)
Our facilitators will be Dr. Tim Conder and Dr. Dan Rhodes, founders of Asheville, North Carolina's Black Mountain School of Theology and Community, and authors of the book, Organizing Church: Grassroots Practices for Embodying Change in Your Congregation, Your Community, and Our World. Tim and Dan are devoted to bringing together people of faith and good will who are passionate about creating meaningful change in our society. The series is free of charge, and will explore how we can deepen our impact and bring life to the principles of justice, equity, and love through effective organizing. The training is designed for anyone committed to bringing about meaningful change in Akron and beyond.
