About this Event

The UoB annual 3MT competition closes for entries on Sunday 8 February. Join our applicant workshop for support in developing your presentation.

What happens at the 3MT Presentation Workshop?

Join Georgina Hardy, Postgraduate Development Officer in the Research Skills Team, for this 3MT Presentation Workshop for applicants to 3MT.

You have just three minutes and one PowerPoint slide to present your thesis topic to a non-specialist audience. This workshop will explore the opportunities and limitations of the three minute thesis format to allow you to create a 3MT performance that will be engaging, inspiring and impactful.

This workshop is designed for those taking part in-person. If you are competing virtually, further resources will be made available and shared via the Canvas course.

What is 3MT?

The Three Minute Thesis (3MTĀ®) is an internationally recognized research communication competition developed by the University of Queensland in 2008. It challenges doctoral researchers to distill their thesis into a compelling three-minute presentation, communicating its originality and significance to a non-specialist audience.

Find out how to take part by reading more on our 3MT intranet page. The deadline to register is Sunday 8 February.

If you haven't decided whether you will take part in the competition yet, join us at our drop-in on 3 Feb to ask any questions.

Location: Arts Bulding, Main Lecture Theatre
