About this Event
Therapeutic processing and integration is part of Phase 2 and 3 of the 3-Phase Trauma Model. Processing trauma isn't suitable for all clients, and usually is only done when enough therapeutic, emotional and physical safety has been established. We will also explore when NOT to process, as well as briefly look at various models to process (depending on prior training of the therapist).
We will go through and practice with several key indicators to increase therapeutic safety when doing the potentially challenging work of processing, including titration, honouring the window of tolerance, incorporating safety techniques when needed, and pendulation/ oscillation. We will also briefly practice with recognising resources that may naturally come up when processing and integrating trauma. Additionally, we will cover the basics of TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), intrusive thoughts, and see how you might incorporate this into your practice. There will be some demonstrations of various ways of working, to shine a light on you might use the techniques.
This training is experiential in nature. This means you will have the chance to discuss and practice with some of the things we will be covering. The training is suitable for both student and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and hypnotherapists, as well as related professions.
This Training Day can be taken on its own, or as the 9th training day as part of the NCPS Quality Checked 10-day Foundation Diploma - Therapeutic Safety in Trauma. It is taught 100% Online.
