“MarLeni” is a Russian-language theatrical production imagining a fictional meeting between two legendary women of the 20th century — Marlene Dietrich and Leni Riefenstahl.
The story takes place in Dietrich’s Paris apartment, where the Hollywood icon has hidden herself from the public for nearly twenty years. One day, filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl arrives with a daring proposal: to create one final film starring the legendary Marlene.
What follows is an intense and intimate confrontation between two powerful personalities — a battle of memories, ideals, art, and history. The play explores fame, responsibility, and the complicated choices artists make in times of political turmoil.
