About this Event
Weighed down by a traumatic military past, a brief but surreal moment as a reality TV contestant and a temporary teaching career in Thailand, Paul was forced home when a visa mix up tipped his life over. Having surveyed the wreckage, where there was no real family to speak of, very few friends, and a collapsing long distance relationship to grieve, he seriously contemplated taking his own life at the age of 36.
With just £300 in his bank account Paul decided to turn his life as around by walking the UK's coastal path.
When he finished he did a second 'lap'!
It's believed he is the first person to have walked around the map twice, covering 20,000 kilometres - a distance equivalent to trekking from London to Sydney.
Come sit down in a cool venue, with a great crowd and hear all about Paul's adventure. The bar will be open from 6.30pm to enjoy one The Exeter Brewery's award-winning craft ales (other drinks will be available). Enjoy the talk and then stay for a pint with fellow adventure lovers after the talk, bar open until 9.30pm. Entry closes at 7pm.
Exeter's independent book shop 'Book Bag' will be in attendance with a stack of Paul's book (just released!) if you would like to buy a signed copy on the evening!
