About this Event

The Wall Speaks funded in part by the City Of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance is not just a show it’s an immersive experience where poetry, visual art, and music collide to tell stories that are meant to be felt, not just heard.

From the moment you enter, you are invited into a gallery-style environment featuring curated installations inspired by original poetry. Each piece is paired with a scannable QR code, giving you direct access to audio performances that bring the artwork to life. This is a self-guided, interactive experience allowing you to move at your own pace, engage deeply, and connect with each story in a personal way.

The installations explore themes of healing, identity, resilience, and transformation creating a space that is both reflective and powerful. This portion of the evening is designed to slow you down, pull you in, and prepare you for what comes next.

As the night transitions, the experience shifts from gallery to stage.

The live performance begins with Deonte Scott, a national spoken word artist, author of The Beauty in the Burden, and featured performer on Lexus Verses & Flow. With over 20 years of performance experience and stages across the country including appearances at Facebook and Google Deonte delivers a raw and commanding performance that brings the heart of The Wall Speaks to life.

Closing the evening is Grammy-nominated soul singer Anthony David, whose timeless sound and powerful vocals provide the perfect musical finale leaving the audience with a lasting emotional imprint.

This is a multi-layered experience:

  • A gallery you can walk through
  • Stories you can hear and feel
  • A performance you won’t forget

Come ready to engage. Come ready to feel. Come ready to experience something different.

Agenda

🕑: 06:30 PM - 08:30 PM
The Listening Room Gallery

Info: The Listening Room is where silence breaks and stories speak without interruption.

This space is a curated blend of sound and installation, where each piece is both seen and heard. As you move through the room, you’ll encounter physical installations visual representations of lived experiences, emotions, and moments pulled directly from the poetry. Each installation is paired with an original audio piece, accessible through QR code, allowing you to step fully into the work.

There is no stage here. No spotlight. Just you, the art, and the voice behind it.

The installations are not just displays they are extensions of the poems. Objects, textures, and materials are intentionally chosen to embody themes of healing, survival, identity, and transformation. What you see gives form to what you hear. What you hear gives depth to what you see.

Take your time with each piece. Scan. Listen. Observe.

Because in this room, listening is not passive it’s participation.
