The Underground Youth began in 2008 as the creative project of Craig Dyer, initially releasing lo-fi recordings online that quickly spread through the growing neo-psychedelia scene. Early albums like Mademoiselle (2010) and Sadovaya (2010) gained viral attention, establishing a global underground following.
In 2011, the self-released album Delirium led to a partnership with Fuzz Club Records, who reissued earlier works and encouraged Craig to form a live band. Joined by his wife Olya Dyer on drums, the group began touring across the UK and Europe, steadily evolving from intimate shows to sold-out festivals.
Subsequent releases such as The Perfect Enemy For God (2013), Haunted (2015), and What Kind of Dystopian Hellhole Is This? (2017) cemented their status as a leading act in the post-punk and psych scene. In 2016, Craig and Olya relocated from Manchester to Berlin, recruiting Leonard Kaage (guitar/producer) and Samira Zahidi (bass).
The band continued to expand internationally, touring Asia, the Americas, and Europe, and collaborating with artists like Kristof Hahn (Swans) on Montage Images of Lust & Fear (2019). Their reflective 2021 album The Falling earned praise from Uncut, Shindig! and Mojo.
Most recently, The Underground Youth released Nostalgia’s Glass (2023) and their latest album Décollage in April 2025, continuing their prolific output and dedicated touring schedule.
