THE UNBINDING OF ISAAC

An immersive Rosh HaShanah experience presented by Temple of the Stranger

One night only!

COURT SUMMONS This Rosh HaShana, the Heavenly Court seeks a select group of wise and courageous jurors to pursue justice for Isaac after his father, responding to what he claimed was a celestial command, bound and nearly killed him, leaving Isaac with lifelong psychological wounds. (This was 4,000 years ago, but better late than never...?) Get to know Abraham, Sarah, and the God of Patriarchy, and assist in the evaluation of their culpability.

BENEFITS for Jurors include a once-in-a-lifetime Rosh HaShana experience, light vegetarian refreshments, a post-trial dance party, opportunities for deep connection, and the potential to change the course of human history by healing a core intergenerational wound.

CAUTION This court case will grapple with themes of intergenerational trauma, familial violence, patriarchal oppression, blasphemy, and personal transformation (basically the contents of your average Bible verse) and is only appropriate for potential jurors who feel emotionally and psychologically willing and able to take on this challenging work. Jurors may be Jewish, Jew-ish, or non-Jewish. No prior knowledge of Judaism or Rosh HaShana is required. The theater is dimly lit and short flights of stairs must be traversed.

DRESS CODE In honor of Rosh HaShana, the new year, and the new opportunities that emerge from justice, jurors are requested to wear red, the color of new life. Fantastical attire that befits cosmic jurors, angelic beings, or time traveling celebrants is appropriate but not required. Dancing shoes are recommended.

START TIME is 6pm promptly. The Gates of Heaven close at 6:15pm. Arrive before 6:15pm. There will be no late admittance.

PHOTOS will be taken at this event. Your entry and presence on the event premises constitutes your consent to be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded and to the publication of such materials for future marketing or other purposes by Temple of the Stranger and its partners.
