About this Event

Join us on Tuesday 2nd April from 10am - 1pm at Higham Hill Hub. The space comprises an indoor portacabin (also where toilets are located), large enclosed garden and within the garden is an open tent.

Please note: This event is in partnership with Waltham Forest Council and is FREE to children who live or go to school in Waltham Forest. If you're not a resident and would still like to come, please book a paid ticket (or free if cost is a barrier).

This event is for primary school children aged 5-11.

Here's what to expect at the space:

INDOORS (PORTACABIN - ALSO WHERE TOILETS ARE LOCATED)

In our ongoing aim to be as inclusive as possible, we have been looking for ways to provide an environment and activities which cater to those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

We have been working with Ananda (Ananda Gill Yoga & Freeing Potential) who some of you will already know from previous Together Space yoga and sound bath session. Ananda has recently founded Freeing Potential, a social enterprise whose mission is it to deliver meaningful, neurologically accessible events for those with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
For this event Ananda has teamed up with Rachel (who has a wealth of experience working both in schools and centres delivering sensory stories and drama workshops to children and adults with PMLD) to create a very special workshop.
Come and join them, leaving behind a world in hyperdrive as they bring the gift of time to take you on a very special sensory journey exploring nature in springtime.

This workshop has been designed specifically for young people with PMLD and offers an immersive and participatory experience.

Yoga and sound will be used to help bring about a state of relaxation in which individuals will be guided and invited to participate in their own way and at their own pace while sharing in the communal journey.

There will be opportunities to use communication aids and switches.

Due to the nature of the session and for it to be as beneficial to those participating as possible, there will be a fixed start time of 10:30am and places are limited. Please reserve a ticket for the 'PMLD Workshop' when booking tickets.

GARDEN:

Art Workshop:

Make a collaborative bunting for The Together Space with Christina Rose Brown. Excited to have Christina back at the Together Space! We'll use bright colours and neon fabric paint to make your mark and design your triangle which will form a Together Space bunting that you can admire at future events.

Christina Rose Brown in an Artist and Educator based in London. She combines part time teaching and gallery education with a professional art career. As an artist, Christina works predominantly in textiles, in particular hand embroidery. Her work explores themes of identity, motherhood and the universal/personal lived experience. She has exhibited regularly in London, and organised workshops and events such as family events for the Tate Modern and London Gallery Weekend, Regular family workshops for the Fitzrovia Chapel and Zabludowicz Collection, and workshops for homeless young people for the charity SPEAR.

Activity:

Yoked Fitness: Nick is joining us with his amazing set up of slack lines, monkey bars, obstacle courses and general exercise for children, young people and adults. We will also have our specialist SEND physio on hand to support children who need extra help.

Cosmo Toys: Encouraging inclusive play among children of varying abilities using their 'switches', Cosmo will be at The Together Space running various activities that nurture empathy, challenge stereotypes, and cultivate essential social-emotional skills. This approach champions equality, enhances learning, and fosters a culture of respect, ensuring equal opportunities for all in their development.

Café:

Whilst your children are doing these activities, you can sip on a hot drink and munch a pastry from local café Haven Coffee who will be popping up. Pastries made by local bakery Today Bread.

We look forward to welcoming you at The Together Space soon!

Love

Alex
