Join us for a journey through the 'cradle of football' as we trace the history of Scotland's National Stadium across three different sitesAbout this Event
The Journey starts at 6pm
- The Original Hampden: Our walk begins at the site of the very first Hampden Park. Keith McAllister, Queen’s Park FC Director and history expert, will explain how the modern game was born right here.
- Cathkin Park: We’ll explore why the original stadium vanished and why the club moved to the nearby site we now know as Cathkin Park.
- The Fall of Third Lanark: Discover the tragic history of the "Hi-Hi"—famously remembered as the club "murdered" by its owner.
- Victorian Footsteps: We’ll stroll along Hampden Terrace, the Victorian street that predates the stadium and gave the ground its iconic name.
- The Modern Era: The tour concludes at the "new" National Stadium (completed in 1999), passing Lesser Hampden—the current home of Queen’s Park.
The Grand Finale - 7.30pm at Clockwork Upstairs. Keith will deliver a captivating video presentation and host a Q&A session to settle any lingering debates on Glasgows footballing heritage.
