About this Event
This session equips Illinois township leaders and staff with practical tools to anticipate and prepare for the future through a combination of data insights, facilitated discussion, and hands-on planning exercises. Participants will explore key state and regional trends—including population shifts, an aging population, workforce changes, and evolving community needs—and consider how these factors may influence local service demands. The session will also highlight several current and emerging policy issues affecting township operations, funding, and mandates, and their connection to local strategies and priorities.
NIU-CGS staff will walk through the township-level strategic planning process, incorporating interactive exercises that allow participants to engage directly with core components of planning. By the end of the session, participants will leave with a stronger understanding of the strategic planning framework and how to apply it within their own communities and organizations.
Registration begins at 8:30 AM when a light breakfast will be served. The program begins at 9:00 AM. The cost is $35 for MTA Members and $45 for non-Members.
