About this Event
The Story Garden is a program curated by Wilde, Flowers & Books where we host children’s book authors in community gardens. The authors read aloud their stories, share free copies of their books, and participate with children in literacy-inspired nature activities.
On Saturday May 9th we will be joined by celebrated picture book author Xelena González, creator of the titles Of the Sun, All Around Us, Por todo nuestro alrededor, Where Wonder Grows, and Donde las maravillas crecen.
The program’s goals are twinfold:
- Immediate Goal: Meaningfully connect children to exciting literacy experiences and accessible greenspaces to inspire daily reading and the exploration of the natural world.
- Long-term Goal: Through consistent programming, complete the development of home libraries and home gardens for families living in urban spaces.
All tickets are free, but you can kindly donate books to children and families in attendance via this Eventbrite form. All assistance is much appreciated.
