There is a lot of serious sparkling wine in France, and most of it has nothing to do with Champagne. These five bottles don't share a region. They share a country and a method, and that's the point.
Our May wine dinner is a tour through the bubbles the French actually drink, from a crisp Vouvray Mousseux in the Loire to a mountain-grown Cremant de Savoie to the ancient Blanquette de Limoux, the oldest sparkling wine in the country. There will be a Pétillant Naturel -- wild, unpredictable, and worth it. And yes, there will be Champagne.
What to expect:
- Cocktail Hour: Raw bar, oysters shucked to order, and small bites to start
- Five Pours, Five Regions: A tour through the sparkling wines of France
- Seated Course: Duck Ballotine with foie gras, Luxardo cherry gastrique
- Dessert: Rhubarb and Rosewater Tartlet with rhubarb sorbet
- Your Host: Glennon Travis, Jolene's GM and our resident wine obsessive
