About The Space Cowboys:

Dean Irons, Guitar & Vocals

At the age of 12 Dean started drumming under the tutelage of Don Land in Durham, NH. His first band, “The Firewater Band,” played southern rock, rock, and blues for their high school friends in the hang-out barn on the family rural property. In his 20’s Dean continued playing drums for “MacBeth,” a hard rock band in Portsmouth, NH—playing such venues as Rosa’s and The Ranger Club and placing as a finalist in radio station WHEB’s rock band competitions. Over the next three decades Dean played drums, rhythm, and lead guitar in several club and event bands including “Grizzly,” “Radio Flyer, “ “The Undertow,” and “Another Round.” Dean later fronted the “Dean Irons Band” and “The Crazy River Band,” as well as performed solo gigs. He has written and produced 2 CDs of original music, “Love Is” and “Second Chance,” on which he played guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards. He counts Steve Miller as one of his major influences.

Michael Cain, Lead Guitar

Michael has been playing musical instruments since he was 5 and has been a guitarist in bands since the age of 12. He has played in several bands throughout his life and adapted to a variety of genres including blues, country, rock, Americana, and southern rock. Before relocating from Georgia in 2023 he was the lead guitarist in “Dilligaf,” which won the traditional artist of the year category at the 2021 Georgia Country Music Awards.

Rene Giust, Bass & Vocals

Rene Giust is a versatile and experienced bass player and vocalist with a musical history spanning over three decades. Originally from Boston, Rene began playing piano as a teenager.

Later, while in the Navy, he switched to a more travel-friendly instrument, the guitar. Upon leaving the military, he settled in the Seattle area where he shifted his focus to the bass guitar and continued to pursue his passion for music, performing in several cover and original acts. In 2024, Rene returned to New England, bringing his wealth of experience and passion for music back to his roots. He draws inspiration from popular music of the late 50’s up to some of today’s music with his favorite era being the 60’s & 70’s.

Sean Tracey, Keyboards

Sean began his musical career in the 70’s at 13-years-old, playing keys and singing in rock, pop, and wedding bands. During high school and college, he played 1st “screamer” trumpet in big band jazz orchestras, pit bands for touring artists, and soul & funk bands in Providence, RI, nightclubs. Sean graduated from Brown University with a minor in Electronic Music Composition. He conducted the St. Anselm’s Jazz Band for two years, then began a career as a film director and advertising agency owner and creative director. After nearly 40 years away from playing music professionally, Sean resumed playing the keyboards during the pandemic, and is excited to continue his musical journey with “The Space Cowboys.”

Tom Hansen, Drums, Harmonica & Vocals

Tom Hansen is from South Portland, Maine, and is a veteran of many Portland-area rock ‘n roll and alternative bands. He studied drums with notable instructors Dom Moio and Phil Verrill, and is proficient in several musical genres, including funk, jazz, and Latin. Besides drums, Tom plays an amazing harmonica that will blow you away and is also a classically trained singer.
