This year we have decided to host our own alternate competition to run alongside our football world cup coverage here on Little Portland Street. I wager it will be way more exciting than the actual football and all profits are going to War Child.
The Social Crisp World Cup 2026 (!!) will feature 16 competing countries, each represented by the best crisp they have to offer. Britain’s representatives England and Scotland will be up against some of the world’s great crisp countries, as well as countries that are underrepresented in snack world.
The Social Crisp World Cup 2026 will not feature Fifa or any of their peace prizes. Wherever possible, it will not feature any Walkers crisps or related products from around the world (Walkers’ own World Cup crisps on sale in supermarkets - taste, sadly average).
Instead, there will be loads of teams from the world cup represented by independent crisp manufacturers who truly bring the game home for their country - from Australia’s Samboy BBQ Blast to Scotland’s Haggis and Black Pepper from Taylor’s, Iran’s Kish Salt and Vinegar to France’s Brets Honey and Mustard, South Korea’s Honey and Butter Orion Chips or Spain’s Torres Iberico Ham, we will host the only world cup that actually matters. The one that goes with whatever you’re drinking, whenever you fancy a pint.
The Social Crisp World Cup begins on 8 June and runs throughout the tournament. Join us for four weeks of heats, followed by semis and a final playoff. Your votes decide the winner! Join the link in our bio to find out more 🏆
