THE SIRES (UK)The Sires Are Dead. Long Live the Sires!
Formed in 1995 in London the Sires released their first EP “High and Mighty” in 1996, recorded at Toe Rag Studios. They toured their fuzzed-up conflation of freakbeat, R&B and garage rock around Europe and 1999 saw their debut album Rulers of Your Heart. Soon after the broke up. BUT!
In 2024 The Sires got the band back together for an appearance at Hastings’ Beatwave Festival. Turns out the crowd wanted more, so they are giving it another go: Domi Malacarne (The Dirty Burds, Tood) on vocals, harmonica and percussion, Andy Sire (The Bristols, Thursday’s Rhythm and Beat Organization) on vocals and guitar, Wayne Northern (Los Easylays, The Hurting Kind) on bass and Bongo Debbie (Thee Headcoatees, Ye Nuns) on drums.
The Sires stage a frenzied show full of soul-tinged Nuggets-inspired neo-60s freakbeat at its fuzziest.
