The Shim Sham was originally a tap routine, created by Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant that was picked up by dancers in the Savoy Ballroom and danced without tap shoes. In the 1980s, Frankie Manning re-introduced the routine to a new generation of lindy hoppers. Why learn the tap version? It will help you to understand the rhythm of the swing shim sham
Why learn the swing version? It is danced all over the world at social swing dance events.
For all dancers, learning both versions provides you with ideas for variations - something we'll be playing with in the final session.
No experience needed.
