About this Event
Radical Walks bring together ideas of city image, commodity fetishism, history from below, the expansion of capital and the development of capitalism.
This walk will explore the City of London and its role in the imperial expansion of Britain and today's economy. We'll look at how tall buildings are financed and constructed, how raw materials from around the world are assembled in one square mile to produce a global node of capital.
Money is everywhere, but how is it explained? What exactly is money? And yet increasingly daily life is monetisied and everything becomes a commodity; including life and death.
Buildings, money, capital, commodities and people will be some of the themes, explored through head, heart, hand and humour.
