The Sankofa Cinema Club Meetup
Happy Black Women's History Month!
Happy 1st Anniversary of The Sankofa Cinema Club in-person! Thank you all for your support!
In honor of Black Women's History Month, we will watch Black Feminist. A lively and illuminating documentary that explores the double-edged sword of racial and gender oppression that Black women face in America. Frustrated by the lack of intersectionality in the women’s movement and the misogyny plaguing the Black liberation movement, filmmaker Zanah Thirus set out to shine a light on the complexities and power of Black feminism. Featuring interviews with a wide range of scholars, writers, business owners, veterans and comedians, the film lays bare the everyday lived experiences of Black Women everywhere.
Join us at the Brooklyn Public Library - Macon Branch on April 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM (ET) for a fun meetup featuring a film screening and an engaging discussion. It’s a great chance to connect with fellow film lovers, share thoughts, and enjoy some awesome cinema together. Don’t miss out on this chill afternoon of movies and conversation!
