About this Event

This is a Continuing Legal Education credit opportunity for legal professionals. 1.25 CLE credits have been applied for.

As practitioners and scholars of the law, the legal community has a critical role in ensuring our criminal legal system is truly just. Join the Minnesota Justice Research Center for an information-packed discussion of:

  • the rapidly changing landscape of criminal law and practice in recent years;
  • where Minnesotans currently stand on issues of crime and safety;
  • the legal implications of Operation Metro Surge;
  • and where attorneys are needed in the fight for transformation ahead.

Speakers:

Mark Osler is the Robert and Marion Short Professor of Law at the University of St. Thomas. He also holds the Ruthie Mattox Preaching Chair at First Covenant Church, Minneapolis. A former federal prosecutor, he focuses his research and writing on clemency, sentencing, and narcotics policy.

Justin Terrell is the Executive Director of the Minnesota Justice Research Center. He is a community leader with a record of executing successful issue campaigns, and an expert in criminal justice and democracy reform. He leads MNJRC's efforts to build a balanced and rigorous research program aimed at equipping Minnesotans with information and tools needed to transform the punitive criminal legal system.
