The Economic Necessity and Why We Must Have ACDBE/ MWDBE Programs
About this Event

AMAC and HCC are community leaders in the mission to growth wealth and develop diverse businesses. We are excited to have our first joint meeting: “The ROI of Diversity and Generational Wealth Building: The Economic Necessity and Why We Must Have ACDBE/MWDBE Programs”

Please join us at the groundbreaking event where we will engage in frank discussions on these programs and how we can have a “call to action” to ensure the continued growth and development of diverse businesses. These are businesses that help to ensure United States global Competitiveness in all all sectors, especially in Aviation and Aerospace.

The Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) is the only national, non-profit trade association dedicated to promoting the full participation of minority-owned, women-owned and disadvantages business enterprises (M/W/DBEs) in contracting opportunities and professional development throughout the aviation and aerospace industries.

Hispanic Contractors of Colorado (HCC) loves helping small, diverse contractors learn how to do business with public entities and large corporations. Our mission is to build opportunities to strengthen and sustain our members’ knowledge, connections and voice with in the public/private sectors in the Colorado construction industry.

Our “Blue Table Talk” discussion, will include thought provoking discussions and questions similar to “Red Table Talks” aka Jada Pinkett Smith -- to share thoughts and insights on our “call to action.”

 • Following the Supreme Court decision on affirmative action in higher education, we saw a series of attacks on minority business programs at the local, state, and Federal levels.

 • Public sector programs that involve racial classifications must meet the strict scrutiny standard of review to withstand constitutional challenge. Gender conscious classifications only need to meet intermediate scrutiny standards.

 • In Fiscal Year 2019, the federal government awarded $30.4 billion to 8(a) firms, more than any of the SBA’s other small, disadvantaged business programs. However, only 1.6% of Federal total government contracts went to African American owned firms and only 1.9% went to Hispanic/ Latino owned firms during that time.

 • There are also a number of attempts to deter private sector firms from continuing their DEI and supplier diversity initiatives. These, and the other attacks on corporate supplier diversity programs are driving uncertainty and doubt among private sector legal counsel offices, DEI officials, and corporate leadership resulting in a crippling effect on minority business.

 • For private sector employers, diversity is an important, legitimate, and valid business interest, as well established by decades of research. Affirmative efforts by private sector businesses to diversify their workforces and supplier base remains vital both morally to address past and present discrimination and economically to achieve a healthy economy and productive workforce.

This is to ensure that we are deliberate to ensure our collective voices are heard so that MWBE/ ACDBE programs continue as the cornerstones of the United States economic fabric and are recognized and supported as a critical part of the US global competitiveness. Please join us as we make Colorado a leading voice/advocate for making sustainability of MWBE/ACDBE programs a cornerstone of legislative and economic policy
