About this Event

Join us for City Teaching Alliance's Back to School Community Celebration!

Calling the Community!

It’s time to come together and celebrate the start of another school year. We want to invite or community- students, educators, families, administrators, community organizations, and other collaborators, to join us for a community gathering for a great cause.

City Teaching Alliance will be hosting a screening night for The Right to Read on Tuesday, August 27 at the American University School of Education (4801 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Room 602, Washington, DC 20016) from 5:30-8:30 PM EST.

This popular documentary affirms reading as a fundamental civil right, emphasizing phonics-based instruction for all students. The film documents the efforts of families, teachers, and advocates across various states in their struggle for their children’s right to read.

Join us for a night of refreshments, movie-watching, and a community conversation about literacy education in DC. Let us come together in community to break bread, learn, discuss, and collectively advocate for this civil right.

We look forward to seeing you there!
