About this Event
The Resilient River is an award winning short film produced by ClimArts, a platform pairing artists and climate experts to create evidence-based climate stories.
Created in response to the 2022 Indus River floods, the film, by dancers Neelambaree Prasad and Kripa Iyer, advocates for a more balanced and sustainable approach to development. It draws on the technical expertise of Daanish Mustafa, Professor of Critical Geography at King’s. The dancers portray the river as a living sentient entity. She emerges, joyous from the mountain top and faces many obstacles - dams, plastics, chemicals along the way, but always resilient she continues her journey until she meets the ocean.
It raises thought-provoking questions about striking a balance between progress and preservation, advocating for a sustainable approach that respects the river's inherent cycles, and a shift towards a more harmonious and sustainable future.
The screening of the film will be followed by a discussion with the artists and Prof. Daanish Mustafa.
