The Real Norman Conquest of 1071 just outside Willingham.

Ask almost anyone and they will say that England was conquered by the Normans at Hastings in 1066. However, they would be wrong. The conquest took many years to complete only for the final Saxon hold out on the Isle of Eels to be crushed in 1071 and yes, Willingham was very very close to the Norman camp while they laid siege to the Isle of Eels.
