Gympie Regional Gallery invites you on a journey to Cherbourg’s Ration Shed Museum, located in the Cherbourg Historical, Cultural, and Community Precinct. Join us for an enriching day exploring the art, history, and community of South East Queensland’s largest Aboriginal community to see where the pieces in our current exhibition 'Barambah Pottery: The Story Continues' were created.
Your Ration Shed Experience
Led by Cherbourg community members, immerse yourself in the powerful stories of the past as shared by local Elders. Through historical and contemporary exhibitions, gain insight into the lives, resilience, and culture of this proud community.
Art and Connection
Explore a variety of artwork, from traditional pottery to vibrant paintings, each piece reflecting Cherbourg’s unique heritage. Visitors can also support the community by purchasing handcrafted pottery and art.
Time to Reflect
Enjoy a leisurely walk through the gardens and enjoy lunch (provided) in a relaxed, welcoming environment where you can connect and reflect on the day’s experiences.

The Ration Shed Museum is a not-for-profit organisation run by the Cherbourg Historical, Cultural, and Community Precinct Group. Profits are reinvested to support local employment, community initiatives, and future projects, making your visit a meaningful contribution to the community’s future.

Departing from the Gympie Regional Gallery, we will transport you to and from Cherbourg. Lunch is provided from Goomeri Bakery.
