For poets interested in performing, we have a few guidelines before we dive into the sign-up process. We operate on a raffle system for sign-ups, which means that not every poet who signs up will have the opportunity to perform. Early sign-ups are not permitted; you can sign up for the raffle once the doors open until 7:20 PM. Poets are randomly selected one at a time. We usually accommodate 15-20 poets, excluding our featured poet. Each poet will receive one raffle ticket upon signing up, which should include your Stage Name and Email. Please note that each poet will be given a strict FIVE-MINUTE TIMEFRAME for their introduction, poem, and outro. The open mic sign-up period ends at TIME, without exceptions. We will begin by calling up our first poet promptly at 7:30 PM.
Please note: Due to our raffle sign-up process, not all poets who sign up are guaranteed a performance slot.
Please note: All performances will be recorded.
If you've attended our experiences before, you know how special the vibe is. As soon as the doors open and you're greeted by our enthusiastic team, you’re excitement will continue building. You'll be greeted with music, and the room will be filled with beautiful faces—some familiar, some new. Either way, you'll instantly feel at home. Some of our locations also offer additional attractions, such as food, drinks, live art, vendors, and more.
Around 7:30 PM, our host will take the stage and kick off the night. We'll start by outlining the house rules, giving you a glimpse of what to expect, and inviting everyone to participate in an icebreaker game. Following that, we'll proceed with the raffles for our open mic performers, interspersed with music breaks, games, an intermission, and more. The night will culminate with our featured poet closing out the event.
That sums up the essentials, but remember, these events are far from ordinary open mic nights. We take it to the next level, and the energy in the room is beautiful.
Always remember this is The Place Artists Call Home and you’ll always be family with us.
With love, always,
Luis Marrero
Note: Our open mic experience exclusively features poetry. We kindly request that no other types of performances, such as music (live or recorded), comedy, singing, etc., be presented. We hold a special place in our hearts for poetry and strive to create a dedicated space for our talented poets.
