Since my emergency eye surgery last month, I’ve developed some new and distressing symptoms, the most profound being electro-magnetic hypersensitivity. Yes, it’s real, and it’s on the rise!
It’s made it virtually impossible for me to make a phone call, send a text or email, let alone to watch a movie or play a computer game. I cannot tell you how isolating this is. I miss talking to my friends.
Necessarily, The Platform is going wi-fi free this month. Old skool. Analogue.
There will be no wi-fi in the Green Room at Camden.
ALL mobile phones must either be switched off or on ‘airplane’ mode for the duration of The Platform (NOT just on silent, as signals will still be active).
If you need to make a phone call, send a text, or use wi-fi, then please go to the main pub area or outside.
If your poems are on your phone, please ensure that you can access them without using wi-fi or connecting to the internet in any other way (Cloud/ Bluetooth etc.). Better still, write or print them out. Even better would be to recite your poems from memory!

I’m so sorry I’m having to insist upon this. This will be a trial run to see if this works! Smartphones are causing me significant pain and I’ll be damned if I lose my poetic voice because of it.
