The Bruocsella Symphony orchestra celebrates 30 years with a special Jubilee Orchestra Concert on Saturday 20th June at NOVUM. Founded in 1996, the orchestra is an international group of amateur, professional, ex-professional and student musicians who share a passion for symphonic music. The BSO was set up as a non-profit organisation (ASBL/VZW) soon after with the aim of giving concerts for the benefit of charitable causes. Its members are all volunteers and meet every week for their traditional Sunday evening rehearsal in Brussels. To celebrate this milestone, the orchestra will perform The Planets by Gustav Holst, one of the most spectacular works in the orchestral repertoire. Written between 1914 and 1917, the seven-movement suite portrays the astrological character of each planet, from the brooding energy of Mars to the mysterious, ethereal sounds of Neptune. The work calls for a very large symphonic orchestra with expanded brass, woodwind and percussion sections, creating a rich and powerful orchestral landscape. For this special anniversary concert, we are also delighted to be joined by the Cantus Firmus Choir, whose celestial voices will bring the magical final movement to life, making this a fitting celebration of thirty years of music-making. ๐ถ
