About this Event
The National Emergency Briefing is a rapidly growing public information programme to make sure that Parliament and the people are clearly and honestly briefed on the climate and nature crisis - an essential step in ensuring that our nation can act at the speed and scale we need.
This groundbreaking briefing was held on the 27th November, at Westminster Central Hall, for more than 1,200 MPs, peers and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media. The event was opened by broadcaster Chris Packham, who introduced evidence-based briefings by leading UK experts on the risks that the crisis poses to the UK in terms of health, food security, national security and the economy.
Now The National Emergency Briefing (NEB) Team are taking the landmark briefing to the country, in the form of a public information film that is urgent, clear and watchable. It will include some of the content of the briefing itself, alongside additional personal interviews with our experts. The aim is for the film to be emotionally engaging rather than data-heavy.
The film also introduces a human, reaction-based layer, in the vein of Gogglebox. Chris Packham will watch the briefing alongside people from all walks of life, including some well-known, trusted public figures. Their reactions will make the talks feel relatable.
The film will be released on 7 April 2026. The intention is that people watch it together as human beings and citizens, ideally with their local MP, discuss it afterwards in a facilitated format, and leave feeling motivated to engage and act.
This free event as advertised on Eventbrite is for a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing public information film hosted by registered NEB host, Greenpeace volunteer public speaker and PhD student (social sciences) Cindy Baxter on the 14/05/2026 from 7:30pm - 9pm.
There is a lot of misinformation about the climate and nature crises. Please join us in May as we learn the facts about the climate and nature crises and why it is important we take action to address the climate and nature crises now.
MPs local to Manchester City Council will be invited to join and local journalists, we cannot guarantee the attendance of local MPs or journalists however they will be invited as part of the NEB hosting process.
*Please note anyone who wishes to attend but does not want their photograph taken or to be in any videos you will be able to opt out of any photographs or videos, please advise the host on the day if you do not want to be in any photographs, videos or other promotional materials.
