About this Event
As part of the Taft Research Center's 2024/25 "Worldbuilding and Radical Worldmaking" programming, step into the world of Octavia E. Butler's The Parable of the Sower in an interactive gaming experience. This tabletop Role-Playing Game (RPG) explores not only the world built by Butler's prose, but examines how that world may be expanded upon in a gaming environment. Players take on the roles of the novel's characters while a Game Master (GM) guides the players through events mirroring those of the book. The players' decisions affect the course of the story and moments that were once fixed in literature may be drastically altered! This game uses the Fate Accelerated Edition RPG ruleset. Players of all experience levels are welcome.
Jay Africa will run two virtual game sessions. Nov 14 is “On the Road,” playing as travelers coming together as Earthseed. Nov 15 is “Acorn,” playing as young Earthseed building its first established community. Free and open to the public, registration required.
