About this Event
A funny Puerto Rican man arrives in New York for the first time. Stuck in the "Puerto Rican Embassy" in El Barrio, he discovers the amazing and valuable contributions of Puerto Rican historical figures displaced to the United States since 1862. He learns how they struggle to keep our cultural roots alive, our Puerto Ricanness.
Based on true stories. It is mesmerizing, funny, dramatic and an exquisite musical.

Angel Vázquez was named Resident Artist at The Center of Puerto Rico, Hunter College (CUNY). HE IS THE FIRST RECIPIENT in the Center's history. While conducting his reseach, a package arrived from Hawaii. Inside was an original whip used against Puerto Ricans in the early 1900's. This is why there is a scene called "Hanna" (work) in the play. Enjoy!
