It’s a mammoth contest, this age-old battle between primo power-pop and proto-punk rock, and it’s being served in the heart of Marrickville, with a a side serve of mystery. It’s happening on Friday, March 20 at 185 Bar in the heart of the Marrickville shopping strip)with The On and Ons tackling Jupiter 5.
The gig will be opened by newcomers The Frequent Flyers, making their live debut.
The Ons and Ons have made an indelible mark as Sydney’s best power pop outfit and have a new album in the wings, due out soon on US label Jem Records.
Rifferama machine Jupiter 5 are putting the final touches to their second record, the follow-up to “5th From The Sun” and are itching to test old and new material on as many ears as possible.
The Frequent Flyers aren’t giving much away except to say their garage rock credentials are solid and they’re going to go hard from the get go. Be early because they’re bringing a crew.
185 Bar is at 185 Marrickville Road (the former MAN On Marrickville) and is earning a reputation as the inner-west’s musical hot spot. Doors at 7.30pm and with no pre-sales (it’s cheap admission with cash or card.)
