Join us for an evening of storytelling, movement, and holiday magic as Avoda Dance Company presents our 2025 winter performance.
First, experience The Word Shaker, a Modern dance interpretation of a storybook found within the 2005 novel The Book Thief. Set in Germany during World War II, this powerful tale explores the impact of words; how they can build, inspire, divide, or destroy. Choreographed by our director and book enthusiast Melinda C. Jacques, this piece brings timeless literature to life through movement, emotion, and narrative depth.
Following The Word Shaker, we are thrilled to debut our brand-new Nutcracker Suite. Featuring the beloved characters and iconic Tchaikovsky score, this version introduces fresh choreography by Avoda’s assistant choreographer Nancy Glasscock Holman, offering a familiar holiday tradition with a vibrant new energy.
