At the NSPA conference we share the latest research, highlight good practice and enable networking for those working in suicide prevention.
About this Event

As the Government writes its new national suicide prevention plan, the NSPA’s 9th annual conference brings together in person professionals with an interest in suicide prevention across the private, public and voluntary sector to network, learn and share.

The NSPA conference is back in person, offering people working in suicide prevention a chance to really connect with each other. As this is our first in person conference for 2 years, we've made sure the agenda includes plenty of time to re-build alliances and network with colleagues past, present and future.

This year’s conference will include best practice from keynote speakers including: Prof Louis Appleby, Chair, National Suicide Prevention Strategy Advisory Group; Ann John, Professor in Public Health & Psychiatry at Swansea University Medical School; and Prof Prathiba Chitsabesan, Associate National Clinical Director for Children & Young People's Mental Health, NHS England. In addition we hope to have an overview of the new plan from the Minister for Suicide Prevention.

With a mixture of informative plenaries and interactive workshops, explore what the future of suicide prevention needs to look like for people in diverse communities and contexts; people from Traveller or LGBTQ+ communities; people who experience domestic abuse; and in different contexts across primary care, the criminal justice system and online. Workshops will cover aspects of suicide prevention and bereavement support including children and young people, involving those with lived experience, self-harm, and preventing suicide in public places.

The NSPA exists to play a coordinating role in suicide prevention. We facilitate collaboration between individuals and organisations to realise our vision of fewer people losing their lives to suicide and those affected by suicide receiving the best possible support.
