About the Event

We are excited to host our first Book Club of 2026. The topic is a timely one: assessing our nation’s data infrastructure. Authors Zach Seeskin and Connie Citro will discuss the findings and implications for our nation’s data collection agencies.

This is a hybrid event, with the in-person option at NORC’s DC offices.

This event is free for all DC-AAPOR members. All non-members must pay $10 to attend.

There is a maximum of 60 seats for the in-person session.

Prior to the event, a link will be sent to virtual attendees and instructions for entering NORC offices to in-person attendees.

About The Nation’s Data at Risk

The Nation’s Data at Risk: 2025 Report is the second in a multiyear assessment of the U.S. federal statistical agencies. The assessment covers five dimensions: staffing and capacity; system structure and funding; innovation; congressional engagement; and stakeholder support. This report documents concerning trends for statistical agencies regarding staffing losses, budget constraints, declining public trust, and system coordination challenges. It also offers nine new recommendations for Congress, the administration, federal agencies, and professional associations to strengthen the nation’s statistical infrastructure.
