Coming up May 10th. 7:30pm at the Simonholt Restaurant is the legendary Nanaimo Music Association Big Band (NMA) under the talented hand of its original founder, Bryan Stovell. The NMA Big Band has been a constant musical feature on Vancouver Island since 1967!
The nineteen piece Band always presents new material with a mix of mainstream and modern, played at an extraordinary musical level. This combo know how to raise a roof!
The band has nurtured some of Canada's leading jazz players in its long history. Such musicians as Dianna Krall, Phil Dwyer, Ingrid and Christine Jensen and in recent times a new wave of up and coming players, as well as many players who have been part of this Big Band for many years.
