This recital explores the profound relationship between artistic inspiration and musical creation through four French composers spanning three centuries. The program features: Marin Marais's elegant reworking of traditional court dances; Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin, originally for solo piano, a personal memorial where each movement honors friends lost in the Great War; Silvestrini's Trois Duos which translate impressionist paintings into sonic landscapes of light and atmosphere; and Poulenc's luminous Oboe Sonata, his final completed work written as tribute to Sergei Prokofiev. Together, these works reveal how composers transform their muses-- dance, memory, visual art, and fellow artists--into sublime musical expression.
