Hot Off the Press this coming September, The Motel, is a a love letter to a lost paradise, a darkly humorous irreverent tale that defines an era. Pubished by New Modern, this is an exclusive look at the wild goings on behind the doors of the most iconic club Ibiza has ever seen.

In 1994, nineteen-year-old Claire takes a one-way ticket to a little-known Mediterranean island. Here she meets Mike, the young artist / architect behind Manumission. The pair begin a passionate affair - but this is not your average love story - together they go on a wild creative rampage changing the face of world nightlife. Pushing cultural, personal and societal boundaries for their art - facing the consequences that followed including a growing debt to an armed drug smuggler.

By the fifth summer of Manumission. Mike and Claire are the most successful club promoters in the world. They have made Ibiza a household name. And Manumission has cemented Ibiza’s reputation as the party capital of the planet. To complete the summer’s concept - as a living art installation - the couple take over a pink abandoned brothel on the outskirts of Ibiza town. They live there with five New York strippers, a bad-tempered Irish Dwarf, an acid-tripping photographer, a New Orleans sex performer and some of the world’s coolest and most badly behaved DJs. At 23 Claire is now the powerful, unabashed queen of Ibiza nightlife. But she's living dangerously on the edge at risk of losing everything.

On her 24th birthday two worlds collide when the strait-laced BBC arrive in the Balearics to do a live broadcast from Manumission - and get lost in an epic weekend at the now notorious Motel.

About the Author

Claire and her partner Mike are the artists behind Manumission. For many years, it was the largest weekly club night in the world, attracting over 1.5 million attendees. Together, they created the Manumission productions and concepts with boundary-breaking musical curation, while also writing stage shows, designing sets and creating over 1000 pieces of original artwork. They continue to work together as multimedia artists collaborating with like minded souls ranging from chef Sebastián Mazzola to dancers from The Royal Ballet.

Claire and Mike are now happily married and have three wonderful children. They live off-grid in Spain on a UNESCO world biosphere reserve with their rescue animals including: three dogs, ten cats and a tortoise.
